When more than a third of the state's population today and more than half of the projected population in 2040 are/will be native Spanish speakers, the suggestion that permanent residence/immigration rights should be granted dependent on how willing hispanics are to learn English is perhaps several orders of magnitude more inane than anything that has come out of Bush's mouth recently. May I suggest instead that you bite the bullet, admit that we are in essence a bilingual society and that perhaps the soon-to-be minority population of the state should be required to learn Spanish?
