First of all, a hearty thanks to
tsuki_no_bara,
fleurrochard and
turps33 for the holiday cards that were waiting for me upon my return. They made wading through the mountain of bills much more palatable!
Secondly, I think it's time to admit I'm an idiot savant as far as the internets are concerned. I mean, y'all remember how I proved to be such an unmitigated disaster at the work-approved web design package (Frontpage), that the IT department eventually cracked and installed a non-approved text editor on my computer so I could continue handcoding, right? Ahahahaha. It gets worse. Having a shiny new iMac, I was looking forward to being able to download the odd tv show for my viewing pleasure even while I'm not in Old Blighty, but unfortunately I totally fail at torrents. Like completely. Even CGB's increasingly exasperated attempts at coaching me through it via e-mail have failed miserably. I need one of the locals who knows about such things to come over and train me, pretty please? I'm willing to teach fluent html and css in return ;-)
In other news, I filed Casperian Books' Sales Tax return electronically through the Board of Equalization website today and I was very impressed with the experience. It took all of ten minutes and was almost as satisfying as filing California state taxes online (which unfortunately I won't get to do this year since the accountant will be taking care of everything except my Jane Doe in the helpfully labelled box). Now I just need to get all my backup paperwork organized and see how many expenses I can possibly claim. Anybody want to hazard a guess at the square footage of my office? I need to work out the percentage of rent and utilities that are deductable...
( Perhaps it's time for a massive to do list )
Of course I should also unpack at some point. Hmmmm. Oh well. I'm sure my bag will still be sitting there tomorrow. Or the day after.
