Still alive!

I know, I know, you wouldn't know it from the lack of posting. What with one thing and another--Masterchef Australia obsession, oh, yeah, and that marriage thing!--something's had to give and that something appears to be Internet time (though I make a concerted effort to read the flist at least once a day). The great thing about watching all 72 eps of Masterchef Australia in about three weeks was that I could do it cuddling on the couch with the husband, which you just can't do balancing a computer to surf the 'net as well...

CGH (note the update!) is actually being remarkably helpful while he is prevented from seeking employment, driving, or really doing anything else much...seriously, people who are worried about illegal immigrants clearly have never gone through the US immigration process, which is arduous, annoying, expensive, and a host of other things. For instance: CGH can't get a CA DL, because he has no social security number and can't get a SSN until he's authorized to work. But he can't drive in the British license, because he is now a resident of California and therefore needs a CA license...yes, I know... anyway, with nothing much to do, CGH has been cooking for us, playing computer games (I now live with two gamers, oh noes!), downloading Australian and British telly for me (is Masterchef UK any good???), and volunteering with Casperian Books to pass the time. He's getting pretty damn good at sorting queries, reading manuscripts, and filling orders. He's also getting pretty damn good at copying recipes he's seen on Masterchef Australia, but maybe that isn't such a good thing. I might have to put myself on a diet soon ;-)
